Overall Purpose

The job of Coordinator of Curriculum is done for the purpose/s of implementing and improving a cohesive program in the context of the Georgia Standards for Excellence in the Clarke County School District.  The coordinator will focus on enhancing teachers’ abilities to provide instruction that builds students’ skills and content knowledge, is academically rigorous, addresses the curriculum standards, and enhances students’ engagement and ownership of their learning.

Essential Functions

  • Develops, reviews, and revises the content curriculums.
  • Implements a process for continuous improvement of the content curricula based on student achievement data and feedback from the schools.
  • Assures alignment of the CCSD content curriculum with the Georgia Standards for Excellence, District adopted instructional materials and resources, assessment measures, and other exemplars as appropriate.
  • Leads a team in the selection of instructional resources, to support implementation of the district’s content curriculum.
  • Identifies and assists teachers with the implementation of instructional practices and programs to increase student achievement in content area.
  • Coordinates with the assessment office to identify, develop, and maintain appropriate systems for monitoring student achievement in content area.
  • Facilitates instruction in the content area curriculum through work with teachers, site-based instructional coaches, department chairs, school administrators, and other staff as appropriate.
  • Implements a comprehensive and integrated model of professional development for teachers and administrators, based on our district goals, research, data, and customer feedback.
  • Identifies and evaluates current research, content knowledge, and trends in content area and communicates to internal and external audiences as appropriate.
  • Provides support to school administrators, department chairs, and instructional coaches in the development and delivery of appropriate professional development in content area.
  • Visits schools regularly.  Works with building administrators and teachers in the effective implementation of the content curriculum.
  • Provides teachers with job-embedded professional development opportunities through a focused coaching model.

Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: performing multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions; applying assessment instruments; utilizing coaching, training, and workshop skills; operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.

Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adult learning methods.

Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Requirements

Master’s degree in education or related field 

T-5 content certification

Leadership or instructional supervision endorsement preferred

Five (5) years’ teaching experience 

Valid Georgia driver’s license and reliable transportation

 

Physical Requirements

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. 

 

Generally, the job requires 40% sitting, 30% walking, and 30% standing.
